Belize is sometimes known as the "jewel of the Caribbean." Settled by pirates and logwood cutters in the 1600's, this small country became a British colony under the name British Honduras and remained so until 1981, when it gained its independence. Belize is located south of the Mexican Yucatan peninsula and east of the Central American country of Guatemala. It is a relatively small country of many races and beliefs—Mayan Indians, Creoles, Garifuna, East Indians, Mennonites, Mestizos, Europeans and more. Still, many of the nation's people are being transformed by the Gospel.

CRWM partners with the Presbyterian Day School in Cristo Rey. The school is truly an outreach of the local churches, and many people in the community of Cristo Rey are realizing the quality of Christian education. Many of the school's teachers are graduates from the school, demonstrating the type of strong Christian leadership that the school is training.
