Under the leadership of Fidel Castro, the Cuban government tightened the restrictions on missions activity but communism has not dampened many Cubans' desire to praise God.

Though no Christian Reformed World Missions' (CRWM) missionaries currently serve in Cuba, CRWM supports the Christian Reformed Church in Cuba by providing grants for evangelism and church planting. New work is beginning in several cities, including Cardenas, Colon, Guines, Jovellanos, Santo Domingo, and Varadero. A second church plant has also begun in Havana City. CRWM provides visiting professors each year to train pastors and evangelists. Training a new generation of pastors is crucial for the denomination's continued growth.
