The opening of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989, signaled a new era of religious freedom in countries oppressed for decades under communist rule. As East European communism began to crumble, Christian organizations in the West quickly crossed the wall's remnants to begin or expand ministries in formerly communist countries.

At the invitation of the Hungarian Reformed Church, CRWM contributed to the redevelopment of the reformed seminary along with elementary and secondary schools. Today through a partnership with the International Christian School of Budapest, CRWM missionaries serve both missionary families and other students from a wide variety of countries by integrating a biblical worldview into each subject.
